Often on this podcast, you’ll hear Barry-Wehmiller CEO Bob Chapman or other BW leaders or other thought leaders talk about the way Truly Human Leadership impacts the lives of people in our workplaces. However, on this episode, you’re going to hear about from some of our team members within Barry-Wehmiler.

A few years ago, we started a video series called “Better Work, Better World” that you can find at trulyhumanleadership.com or on our social channels. The series is a way to feature our team members’ stories and recognize them for their contributions.

The team members you’ll hear from today are from our BW Packaging group of companies, which include BW Flexible Systems, BW Integrated Systems and BW Filling and Closing.

Our first team member, Patrick Humphries, is a machinist who worked for Hayssen, Inc. in Duncan, South Carolina when it was acquired by Barry-Wehmiller in 1997.

The Hayssen brand is still a renowned name in the world of packaging and its now part of BW Flexible Systems. BW Flexible Systems makes packaging machines that fill and bag thousands of food and non-food products. So, when you go to your local grocery store, the items you see on the shelf like bakery items, confectionery snack foods, frozen foods, fresh produce, cheese, and many more, could have been packaged on a BW Flexible Systems machine. And when it comes to non-food products, their machines help package pet food, personal care, pharmaceutical, agricultural, paper and mail sorting and collating, and industrial products.

Patrick talks about the changes that happened when Hayssen became part of the Barry-Wehmiller family and he also talks about why he truly thinks of it as a family.

Erica Uribe is an executive administrative assistant at our BW Integrated Systems company in Romeoville, Illinois.

BW Integrated Systems is our BW Packaging company that is an industry leader in the design and manufacture of end-of-line packaging equipment, labeling equipment and robotic automation solutions, as well as the execution of integrated packaging systems. Their machines serve a wide variety of industries, including automotive, food, beverage and spirits, container manufacturing, pharmaceutical, dairy, personal care and more.

Erica has a unique story of how she became a part of the Barry-Wehmiller family. She tells her story and talks about what her role means to her personally and also to her life at home with her family.

Hassan Awil is based in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. He is the People Team Leader for the Canadian locations of our BW Packaging companies. Hassan talks about our culture of Truly Human Leadership, how and why he came to Barry-Wehmiller and why recognition is an important part of our culture.

At the time of this interview, Pooja Parupalli was a Senior Strategic Marketing Research Analyst for BW Packaging. She has very recently received a promotion and is now a part of BW Flexible Systems. Pooja talks about her role in the company, why its exciting for her and how Truly Human Leadership plays into her fulfillment in her job.

Chris Murphy is a Senior Finance Leader of Strategy and Business Optimization at BW Flexible Systems. He talks about his experiences becoming part of the Barry-Wehmiller family, the differences between Barry-Wehmiller and his prior organization and how our listening training has affected his relationships. Chris also talks about why he considers BW a family
