INSPIRED: Jorge del Cid

Throughout Barry-Wehmiller, there are many team members who have been with us a long time—20-, 25-, 30+ years. We’re proud of that. It says something about who you are as an organization when people choose to stay by your side, working together toward the shared goals.

Jorge del Cid is one of those team members. Jorge is a Director of Aftermarket for our BW Integrated Systems division. He’s been with us for 25 years. He was with us when we introduced the principles of Truly Human Leadership which jumpstarted our cultural transformation. Like many of our team members, learning to lead people in a non-traditional way did not come naturally to Jorge. As he shares, he would have preferred to just “tell them what to do.”

But he didn’t. Instead, he trusted. He listened. He cared. Instead of being a manager to those in his span of care, he was a leader. When you do that, amazing things are possible.
