BW Continuous Improvement's training of Core Teams at OpEx 2.0 "model sites" almost complete

Those are just a few of the comments captured by BW’s Continuous Improvement Team during recent OpEx 2.0 Core Team training sessions at the production sites chosen to focus on improving material flow within their value streams. The four model sites include BW Converting-Neuwied, Germany; BW Papersystems-Phillips, Wisconsin (US); BW Packaging’s Flexible Systems-Akron, Ohio (US); and BW Packaging’s Integrated Systems-Brooklyn Park, Minnesota (US).

Additionally, the BW Continuous Improvement Team will begin work soon with BW’s Corporate Finance Shared Services Team, St. Louis, MO (US) to reduce total time required on activities in order to grow their ability to take on more.

The role of the Core Team at each site is to work closely with the BW Continuous Team and the OpEx Steering Committee to capture  insights along their location’s journey to contribute to BW Way playbooks of best practices. Ultimately, best practices identified from the model production sites will be used to optimize material flow within production facilities across BW.

The Core Teams received training in the use of the A3, a problem-solving tool that puts the problem, analysis, corrective actions and action plan down on a single sheet of 11x17 (also known as A3 size) paper. To explore using the A3 tool in your area, see this helpful instruction guide.

BW Converting showcases new innovations at Chitarrino, Italy facility

Recently, BW Converting held its EMBOSSING TechniLAB Open Day event in Chitarrino (Fornaci di Barga), Italy. Attendees saw BW Converting’s new MUSA Pilot Line, equipped with the Baldwin RotorSpray lotioner, and explored the EMBOSSING TechniLAB, where customers had the opportunity to develop, test and experience products firsthand.

CARR BIOSYSTEMS

CARR team members support each other after Hurricane Milton

CARR Biosystems, headquartered in Clearwater, FL (US), had team members rally to support Field Service/Sales Coordinator Jeannine Dancey after Hurricane Milton damaged her and her mother-in-law’s homes. They cleared debris and packed 36 tubs of household items, showcasing CARR’s core values of community and teamwork. Their efforts provided hope and relief, embodying the commitment to caring for each other like family.

Chapman & Co. enhances talent assessment and selection processes

Chapman & Co. (CCO) recently partnered with Gateway Industrial Organizational Psychologists to host Dr. Paul R. Sackett, Distinguished Professor from the University of Minnesota, for an engaging presentation on assessment validity in predicting job performance. His research-driven insights challenged conventional thinking and generated valuable discussions among CCO team members about the future of talent assessment and selection.

BW Papersystems advances Manchester Industries' productions

Manchester Industries, located in Richmond, Virginia (US), recently enhanced its production capabilities in Hagerstown, Indiana (US), by acquiring a new SheetRunner from BW Papersystems. Designed for high-volume board production, the SheetRunner will optimize Manchester's substrate use, reduce waste and improve production times. This continues its long-standing tradition of leveraging top-tier technology from BW Papersystems to meet evolving market demands and maintain its competitive edge.

BW Design Group announces 2024 recognition programs award recipients

Recently, BW Design Group announced the award recipients of the “Leaders Defining Tomorrow” and “Engineering and Technical Excellence” recognition programs. Out of more than 300 global nominations, 28 team members were selected. These awards highlight positive behaviors that support BW's vision and foster a culture of mutual respect and recognition. Congratulations to all recipients for their outstanding contributions and exemplifying the values that make BW Design Group an industry leader. BW recognized as a St. Louis leader in team member wellbeing

Congratulations to the BW Wellbeing Team, which was honored as the 2024 Business Health Culture award winner on November 7. Said Laurel Pickering, President and CEO of the St. Louis Area Business Health Coalition: “As a BHC member and local employer, BW consistently demonstrates itself as a leader in advancing wellbeing in the workplace and in our community.” The coalition recognizes organizations that implement innovative strategies to improve wellbeing, and the group especially appreciated BW’s lighthearted Better You Incentive videos. Shine the Light Award: Tiassa Toukou, DG-Philadelphia

Congratulations to Tiassa for receiving an award for Drives Results. Dayforce is live in the United Kingdom!

Starting in late October/early November, team members in the United Kingdom (UK) began using Dayforce to track/approve time and process payroll—joining team members in the US and Canada, who shifted to the platform in 2023. As UK team members complete the transition to this best-in-class payroll system, we want to thank you for your support, and encourage you to review your first Dayforce earning statement/pay slip: Login at bw.care/dayforce and click Earnings after your first November pay date.

BW TRAVEL UPDATE

BW Travel announces travel agency changes

BW Travel recently announced the official merger of Travel Leaders Corporate and ALTOUR. This strategic partnership brings together the strengths and resources of both companies, allowing them to better serve BW travelers. BW Travel also introduced AI Predict, a new service to help travelers in North America receive proactive travel assistance and can even text a travel advisor directly.
