Revenue-breakdown

$3.5 Billion in Revenue

About a third of our $3.5 billion in total revenue comes from the new equipment we build for customers, another third comes from providing parts and services to keep previously sold equipment (some as old as 50 years!) running and performing well, and the final third comes from the engineering and consulting services we provide.

Always in Demand

While year over year success of Barry-Wehmiller can be attributed to both acquisition and organic growth, the foundation of our success is the diversified nature of our businesses and their product portfolios. Most of the end products that are made on our equipment or as a result of our engineering services will always remain in demand by consumers throughout the world. Just take a look inside your own pantry. Chances are, many of the products there have been packaged, bagged, filled, wrapped, labeled, conveyed, or somehow touched by a BW solution!

The Architect of Our Business and Culture

By now, you’ve probably heard of, read about, or watched a video featuring Bob Chapman, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chairman of the Board of Barry-Wehmiller. The Chapman family is the majority owner of Barry-Wehmiller, owning roughly 59% of the company. Three generations of Chapmans - Bill, Bob and Kyle - have run the company since 1957.

Bob is the leader responsible for launching the strategy that put the company on a trajectory for enormous growth after assuming leadership of Barry-Wehmiller back in 1976. But, if you ask Bob what he’s most proud of, he won’t say it is Barry-Wehmiller’s remarkable growth or the machines our companies build; he’ll say it is the people whose lives our business has touched along the way. Bob profoundly believes it is the responsibility of business to improve people’s lives: through a role that allows them to use their gifts and talents to their fullest, through a future they (and their families) can count on, through a culture that makes them feel safe and cared for. And it was those beliefs that became the basis for the caring, people-centric culture we foster today inside each of the companies in the BW family.

United by Culture

While BW’s businesses produce a vast array of goods and services, one thing remains a constant among them: each company’s deep commitment to creating a caring, trusting, nurturing culture where people feel safe to express their ideas and share their gifts and talents. It's the culture that was envisioned when our Guiding Principles of Leadership was drafted in 2003 by Bob Chapman and team members from around the organization which now hangs on the walls and – more importantly – is exhibited through the actions of our teams throughout our global plants and offices. That foundational document describes a culture grounded in trust, respect, communication, recognition, and personal development.

To help our team members contribute to the culture we aspire to, Team Member Expectations & Commitments have been developed to remind everyone of two important daily commitments: perform with excellence and care for each other. When all of us perform our roles as best we can and contribute to our caring culture, together we create a better future for all of us!

Creating Better Futures Outside BW

Some years ago, after seeing the positive effect of meaningful work and our caring culture on our team members and their families, we became intentional about sharing what we’d learned outside our walls. It began with Bob sharing his insights through keynote speeches  and via our Truly Human Leadership blog and social media. Then, in 2015, our message began to gain greater visibility when Bob’s book Everybody Matters  was published.

Today, our leadership consulting firm, Chapman & Co. Leadership Institute, helps other companies looking to build great culture and develop leaders. Additionally, the Chapman family’s non-profit, Chapman Foundation for Caring Communities, brings Barry-Wehmiller’s impactful listening training to non-profit communities and groups.

People and Performance in Harmony

We take great pride in the performance of our business and in our longstanding relationships with our customers and suppliers. We are grateful for our continued financial strength, allowing us to experience nearly 18 percent compounded revenue growth since 1987. But we are most proud of - and grateful for - our team members who, like you, make our business and culture vibrant. Thank you for joining us and helping us show the world what’s possible at the intersection of good business strategy and profound care for people.
