Don't forget to watch the most recent State of the Business!

In the most recent State of the Business, CEO Bob Chapman and President Kyle Chapman outline how the business is performing at the midyear point and share progress on many transformation initiatives throughout Barry-Wehmiller. Additionally, Senior Director of People Development Paul Lapreziosa and BWU Program Leader Michael Nathe provide an update on Barry-Wehmiller University. Leaders, please encourage those in your span of care to view this important update and discuss the importance of executing during this second half of the year. We need everyone to play their positions well so that we can meet the organization’s goals.

BW PAPERSYSTEMS

BW Papersystems announces senior leadership changes

To drive increased leadership, focus and energy in BW Papersystems' corrugating product line and its operational excellence, a number of impactful organizational changes have been made. Neal McConnellogue is leveraging his deep expertise in commercial excellence by stepping into a new role as President of Corrugating and Chief Commercial Officer for BWP. Marc Marlatt has been appointed President of BWP, assuming responsibility for all product lines, operations, business functions and financial performance. Also, Jim Logan, who has held leadership roles at Rexnord and JBT, will join the BWP team on June 3 as Senior Vice President of Operations and Supply Chain.

OpExChange visits BW Flexible Systems' Duncan Facility

In April, representatives from OpExChange, a peer-to-peer network of companies dedicated to achieving greater levels of operational excellence, visited BW Flexible Systems in Duncan, South Carolina (US). BW Flexible Systems provided insights into the importance of a people-centric culture and ongoing implementation of lean manufacturing principles through a tiered reporting system. “When you are here, you can feel it. The intentionality of developing people and the concept of people and performance in harmony. That perspective is everyday discussion. It is a very real thing,” said Dustin Batchler, Global Supply Chain Leader at BWFS.

Chapman & Co. hosts FOCUS St. Louis Women In Leadership Cohort

FOCUS St. Louis, a local nonprofit helping professionals develop their capacity to lead in their organizations and communities through experiential learning, recently brought their Women In Leadership Cohort Program to BW’s corporate headquarters in St. Louis, MO (US). Their "Field Day" experience, gave participants the opportunity to explore leadership insights across different sectors. Sara Hannah, Chapman & Co. Leadership Institute Managing Partner, and Rhonda Spencer, BW Chief People Officer, hosted the group for their workshops, presented on our message of Truly Human Leadership and helped facilitate the LeadHER Roundtable.

Andy Moyden of BW Integrated Systems recognized at LatamCan Achievement Awards in Buenos Aires, Argentina

Andy Moyden of BW Integrated Systems was recognized at the Achievement Awards Ceremony at LatamCan, one of the most important conferences for the Latin American metal packaging industry. This year’s conference was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Andy has been an important part of BW Integrated’s journey. He followed his father, Wally Moyden, the founder of Fleetwood Systems, into the packaging industry. Congratulations to Andy on this recognition for his contributions and years of service!

Shine the Light Award: Catherine Fewell, BWCS-Green Bay

Congratulations to Catherine for receiving an award for Drives Results. Robert McCarty, her nominator, said, "While trying to level load our facilities globally, we were sending assemblers from Green Bay, WI (US) to Italy. It was a very detailed process since we hadn't done it before. Catherine stepped up, took initiative and went beyond her daily work to make sure I had everything we needed to be successful. Her tackling open items and addressing things before they came up was key to our success in giving our assemblers a great opportunity and helped the business stay fully utilized. I am extremely grateful to have her as a People Partner!"

Shine the Light Award: Nate Killinger, BW-Phillips

Congratulations to Nate for receiving an award for Customer Focus. Nancy Olson, his nominator, said, "It's hard to pick just one of the Commitments that Nate should receive. He juggles multiple responsibilities and priorities all of the time, but he takes the time to solve team members' IT needs in a timely manner. He provides the utmost professional aid to benefit all of our internal customers. His dedication has led multiple team members to efficiently and effectively complete their daily duties."

Shine the Light Award: Tammy Becker, BWP-Phillips

Congratulations to Tammy for receiving an award for Drives Results. "I've known and worked with Tammy for years. She's an extremely hard working, goal-oriented individual, and will do whatever is asked of her, even if that means staying late or giving up a weekend," said nominator Sheryl Skrzypczak. Tammy "has worked in many areas, including panels building, prepping wire harnesses and helping build sheeter or corrugator machines. Her dedication and continued drive to help meet our customer needs is an inspiration to all of us."

Shine the Light Award: Mike Danenmann, BWP-Baltimore

Congratulations to Mike for receiving an award for Optimizes Work Processes. "Mike continues to be the light of our group. He goes above and beyond every single day for this company," said nominator Heather Lokey. "Mike does so much behind the scenes to help our focus and efficiency. From problem solving to morale boosting, he is there for everyone on our team and always helps with a smile. It is a pleasure working with him."

Shine the Light Award: Terry Aide, BWP-Phillips

Congratulations to Terry for receiving an award for Instills Trust. Austin Hallock, his nominator, said, “When we were charged with replacing the interior tin on the wash bay for the paint booth area, Terry's behavior was very trusting and true. He was instru-mental in attacking the project and getting it done. He was very confident in his skills and saw the huge challenge as a learning opportunity. In the short time he's been here, he's gained the trust of many and positively affected everyone he's worked with. Terry strives for excellence, is eager to learn and tries hard. This type of character creates an environment where we are all successful."

NEW WORKDAY TIP

Workday tips and tricks from People Tech Team

Many of us within Barry-Wehmiller use Microsoft Teams to communicate and collaborate with each other. Team members have been using Workday more frequently, including basic functions like entering time off. What if these two worlds could come together? The answer is, they can! To link to your accounts, use this helpful job aid How To: Link Workday to Your Microsoft Teams. This will allow you to have Workday within your Teams app where you can utilize the team member directory, check your time off/holiday balances and request time off. If you are a leader, you can approve time off requested by your team and more, all within your Teams app!

Leaders, it is time to prepare for Mid-Year Discussion Meetings with your team members

For those platforms or businesses in scope, as part of the Mid-Year Discussion phase of the Performance Cycle, many team members recently submitted their Self-Reflection in Workday. As a leader, it is now time to review your team members' Self Reflections and craft feedback messages in preparation for Mid-Year Discussion meetings. Once those are complete, you'll be ready for the final step in the Mid-Year process--hosting dialogues with those in your span of care to discuss their self-reflection, your observations and outline next steps for success. Log in to Workday to get started. Remember, all resources and steps to prepare for the Mid-Year Discussion can be found at www.bw.care/performancecycle.

Watch out for scam pop-up warnings!

Warnings that pop up on your screen with alarming messages like “Access to this PC has been blocked” or “Contact Windows Support” (followed by a phone number) are dangerous scams. If you receive this type of pop-up window, immediately close it and close your web browser windows. Do not call any phone numbers provided, nor engage in a chat option. If the pop-up refuses to close, shut down the browser that you are using by hitting Alt+F4.
