BW kicks off inaugural Realize Leadership Acceleration cohort

In June 2024, BW launched the Realize Leadership Acceleration Program to identify and equip emerging leaders with the leadership skills, strategic acumen and enterprise mindset needed to succeed in most roles at the senior level of the organization. Cohort members are recommended by their platforms or business units. In August, 28 team members learned they were selected for this prestigious leadership development program.

Over the following months, the cohort members engaged in learning, strategic projects and networking across functions. Each cohort member was assigned a coach to support them, provide feedback and challenge them as they work through their year-long projects.

During a November two-day summit in St. Louis, MO (US), cohort members gave update presentations to the Senior Leadership Team and others on their FY25 projects. The cohort’s program year will conclude in September 2025. Members of the 2024 Realize cohort include:

BW Converting optimizes envelope production for Dutch print leader

BW Converting recently completed a high-impact retrofit for Koninklijke Van der Most, a leading print and graphics manufacturer based in Heerde, Netherlands, that significantly boosted the productivity and energy efficiency of its Winkler+Dünnebier (W+D) 341 envelope production system. This innovation equipped the machine with components designed to increase energy efficiency and minimize downtime.

Alliance Machine Systems acquires JD Engineers

Alliance Machine Systems International, a global leader in the manufacturing of automated paperboard packaging equipment for the production of corrugated boxes, has acquired JD Engineers B.V., a producer of high-quality specialty folder gluers in Joure, Netherlands. Through this strategic partnership, the premier all-in-one solution will enhance production efficiency and quality for customers in the global corrugated and folding carton industry.

WalkerHughes Insurance acquires Independent Brokers Agency LLC

BW Forsyth Partner's WalkerHughes Insurance, headquartered in Indianapolis, IN (US), has acquired Independent Brokers Agency LLC (IBA), based in Ballwin, MO (US). The family-founded and operated insurance agency offers personal lines, commercial lines and employee benefits. This expansion to Missouri within the metro area of BW headquarters presents a valuable growth opportunity, driving local impact and regional connectivity. IBA represents WalkerHughes’ first acquisition outside of Indiana.

Chapman & Co. Leadership Institute hosts Truly Human Leader Program

BW Design Group and newly formed BW India host BW Corporate in Chennai

With BW’s robust presence in India continuing to develop, our India-based teams recently realigned into two distinct entities. BW Design Group-India retains its focus on innovative engineering solutions and consulting, while the remaining teams united as BW India, a dynamic entity to support Industrial Machinery manufacturing platforms.

In November 2024, more than 200 team members from BW India, BW Design Group and BW Corporate gathered for the annual “Impetus” event, a vibrant showcase of India’s rich cultural heritage and activities to foster teamwork, talent, recognition and celebration.

BWU brings Listen Like a Leader to BW Papersystems in China

Recently, BW University (BWU) hosted the first-ever Chinese speaking Listen Like a Leader class at BW Papersystems (BWP) in Dongguan, China. Yasmin Nehls, BWP Vice President of People, said, "The team that made this training class happen did an awesome job translating and preparing everything. First-time professor, Cherry Chen, was amazing, along with Jaslyn Lee and Emily Desloge who helped with preparations and organizational tasks. Thank you to the team for making this happen!"

Shine the Light Award: Josh Scales, BWP-Hunt Valley

Congratulations to Josh for receiving an award for Instills Trust. His nominator Benjamin Kretlow said, "Josh provided exceptional service assisting the Supply Chain Team in fulfilling customer requirements. When we need help, we know that Josh will work diligently to do the right thing, even if it is not easy, and that makes us feel we are being treated as valued partners. Shine the Light Award: Tami Edinger, BWP-Phillips

Congratulations to Tami for receiving an award for Customer Focus. Her nominator Paul Melby said, "Tami catches the details that so many overlook. This helps give our customers the experience that they deserve. No matter how damaged an area has become, she will make it look new again. She works well with others and continues to help reach individual and team goals. Tami often recognizes where assistance is needed and will take action immediately to support."

Shine the Light Award: Fazil Soharwardi, DG-Boston

Congratulations to Fazil for receiving an award for Drives Results. "Fazil has a strong team-oriented focus and is always looking for ways to help team members balance their workload, while delivering his own critical project deliverables," said his nominator Joe Olewinski. "Fazil strategized to redistribute our work to enable team members to gain valuable experience and efficient execution of deliverables. Your year-end tax forms now are available in Dayforce. Login at bw.care/dayforce and click Earnings > Year End Forms. If, during the 2024 annual policy review, you chose to receive your forms only electronically, thank you for helping us be good financial stewards and save on postage costs! Please note that your forms will not be mailed. If you did not consent to receiving your forms electronically, your tax documents will be mailed by the end of January to your home address on file.

IT TECH TIP

Want to avoid to inconvenient, unplanned computer reboots?

Did you know that BW’s security update software, KACE, tells you when updates or patches need to be installed, and that you can choose when to install them?

When updates are ready to install, the KACE icon (a grey "K") in your system tray, located at the bottom right of your screen, will show a blue exclamation point over the icon. Right click the icon and click “deploy staged patches" to begin installing updates. 

Notes: Patches not installed within three days will be automatically pushed to your computer. If the KACE icon isn’t visible, click the up arrow on the system tray to see it.
